"Rohit doesn't need any motivation" - Ravi Shastri on Mumbai Indians skipper ahead of MI vs SRH
Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri believes Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma is not far away from getting a big score ahead of their match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, May 21.
Rohit has scored just 257 runs in 13 games in the IPL 2023 season so far, at a modest average of 19.77. However, Shastri believes he is not in woeful form and feels it will be difficult to stop the MI captain once he gets going.
Speaking to Star Sports ahead of the match between the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, here's what Ravi Shastri said about Rohit Sharma:
"Rohit doesn't need any motivation. It is Rohit's bad luck that runs are not coming out of his bat and he is getting out after playing two or three balls. But once runs start flowing out of his bat then it will be difficult to stop him. This is a different guy."
If Mumbai Indians move forward, they will be unstoppable: Harbhajan Singh
Former Mumbai Indians spinner Harbhajan Singh has, meanwhile, claimed that if the five-time champions somehow make it to the IPL 2023 playoffs, they will be a difficult team to beat. He feels that if Mumbai enter the playoffs, there's a great chance of having an MI vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) final.
On this, Harbhajan Singh stated:
"If MI move forward, they will be unstoppable. After going to the playoffs, MI's chances of winning the trophy will increase significantly. Mumbai have the best batting. If their bowling gets slightly better, then no one is better than MI. Nothing can be better than this if MI and CSK make it to the finals this season."
MI don't have their destiny in their own hands. However, they need to first beat SRH at home to give themselves the best chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
