"Rohit Sharma has been absolutely phenomenal" - Jasprit Bumrah lavishes praises on Team India skipper ahead of T20 World Cup 2024 final
Team India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has praised Rohit Sharma's captaincy skills in the T20 World Cup 2024. The right-arm speedster attributed to India being in the right space due to Rohit giving his teammates plenty of freedom.
The ace batter has been phenomenal throughout the tournament as India stand on the brink of winning an ICC event. Rohit has led from the front with the bat, especially in the last two matches against England Australia, hammering 92 and 57, respectively.
Speaking to Sanjana Ganesan ahead of the final against South Africa in Barbados on Saturday, June 29, Bumrah underlined Rohit's proactiveness.
"Rohit Sharma has been absolutely phenomenal. Even in the previous World Cup you know, he has been proactive, he gives a lot of freedom to his players, he lets the players express themselves. When he feels the right time, he shares his own experience during the match. So ya, it feels really great and I feel very happy playing under him and the confidence of the group is also very high," he explained.
Under Rohit, Team India have reached their third successive final of an ICC event. However, they lost both the World Test Championship and the 50-over World Cup finals, both to Australia.
"Good thing sometimes when you don't have a lot of time to over plan" - Jasprit Bumrah

With Team India barely having time between the semi-final and the final, Bumrah sees it as an advantage.
"It is a good thing sometimes when you don't have a lot of time to overplan or confuse yourself or complicate things. So you know, you are straight on the flight, rest and recover and no time to think and no complications," he said in the same interaction.
Either team winning the final would become the first in history to lift the trophy without losing a match.
