"Rohit Sharma ka DRS kharab karvane ke baad Siraj"- Top 10 funny memes from day 1 of 2nd India vs Bangladesh 2024 Test
Rain played a spoilsport on Day 1 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park in Kanpur on Friday, September 27. Due to persistent showers, only 35 overs were bowled on the opening day of the match. India currently have a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, courtesy of their clinical victory in Chennai.
The match commenced after a delay in the morning due to a wet outfield. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma then invited Bangladesh to bat first after winning the toss in overcast conditions. The Pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj posed constant trouble to the batters with the new ball but failed to pick a wicket.
Akash Deep came into the attack in the ninth over and dismissed Zakir Hasan off his third ball to give the hosts their first breakthrough. He also sent back Shadman Islam after a couple of overs, reducing Bangladesh to 29/2.
Najmul Hossain Shanto (31) then played with positive intent in the company of Mominul Haque (40*) and put on a 51-run partnership for the third wicket. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the promising stand in the 29th over by dismissing Shanto with a brilliant delivery, which trapped the batter Leg before wicket (LBW).
Mominul Haque (40*) and Mushfiqur Rahim (6*) remained unbeaten at the crease before bad light forced the umpires to halt the action after the 35th over. The incessant rain then forced the officials to abandon the play for the day.
Fans were disappointed that only 35 overs were possible on Friday due to inclement weather conditions in Kanpur. They expressed their reactions to the limited action by sharing hilarious memes on social media platforms.

"They want to win this Test by an innings"- Basit Ali on India's decision to bowl first in 2nd Test vs Bangladesh in Kanpur
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali recently analyzed the reasons behind the Indian captain Rohit Sharma's decision to bowl first in the second Test against Bangladesh. Ali revealed that he was surprised by the call but felt that multiple factors might have forced the Indian team management to make it. In a video on his YouTube channel 'Basit Ali', he said:
"India won the toss and chose to bowl first. It was a surprise for me. The pitch looked very good. After two balls from Bumrah went one bounce to the keeper, I wondered what would happen in the fourth innings for India. However, there is rain for two days, so that's a factor."
He continued:
"Bowling first here means that India want to bat just once. They want to win this Test by an innings, otherwise, there will be a problem. There is a forecast for rain tomorrow as well. If India take seven wickets tomorrow, the Test match will be in their pocket."
