Rohit Sharma keeps landmark T20 World Cup winning moment as new X profile picture
Indian captain Rohit Sharma, after a long time, has changed his profile picture on X (formerly Twitter) to one that holds great memories of the T20 World Cup win. In the picture, Rohit is seen hoisting the Indian flag on the turf of the Kensington Oval in Barbados after the Men in Blue won the final against South Africa.
Earlier this year, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had claimed that the Men in Blue would hoist the Indian flag in Barbado under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, indirectly predicting that India would win the T20 World Cup. That is exactly how things panned out as Rohit did the honours of hoisting the flag.
Here's his new X profile photo:
India scored 176/7 while batting first in the final and restricted South Africa to 169/8, winning by seven runs and ending their 11-year wait for an ICC Trophy.
Rohit Sharma announced his T20I retirement after the T20 World Cup final
Addressing the media after the T20 World Cup final, Rohit Sharma announced that he would be no longer featuring in T20Is. Having achieved the ultimate goal of winning the T20 World Cup, Rohit felt it was the right time for him to move on and focus on the longer formats.
Here's what he told reporters soon after Virat Kohli too announced his T20I retirement:
"This was my last game as well. I've enjoyed since the time I started playing this format. Better a time to say goodbye to this format. I've loved every moment of this. This is what I wanted - I wanted to win the cup."
Rohit had his best T20 World Cup with the bat as he ended up being India's top-scorer with 257 runs at a strike rate of 156.7 with two half-centuries.
