Rohit Sharma's shocked reaction to Virat Kohli's last-ball dismissal on Day 3 of IND vs NZ 2024 1st Test goes viral

Team India suffered a huge setback on Day 3 of the Bengaluru Test against New Zealand as Virat Kohli (70) was dismissed off the last ball of the day. Skipper Rohit Sharma was absolutely shocked with the senior batter's dismissal just before stumps and his reaction has now gone viral on social media.

India ended Day 3 of the first Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 18, at 231-3. Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan (70*) had added 136 runs for the third wicket in their second innings. However, Glenn Phillips produced some magic off the last ball of the day to dismiss Kohli. The Kiwi spinner foxed the set Indian batter with a slower one and induced a nick, which was held by the keeper.

Following Kohli's dismissal against the run of play, the cameras panned to the Indian dressing room and showed an extremely dejected Rohit. The Indian skipper seemed absolutely stunned and threw his head back in disappointment even as an equally dejected Kohli walked back to the pavilion.

Team India still trail New Zealand by 125 runs, with seven second-innings wickets in hand.

Rohit, Kohli, Sarfaraz lift India after New Zealand secure huge 356-run lead

While the Indian camp will be disappointed with Kohli's dismissal late on Day 3, the hosts staged a commendable fightback after being bundled out for 46 in their first innings. New Zealand gained a massive 356-run lead in the first innings, but India's batters kept the hosts in the game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (35) and skipper Rohit (52) added 72 for the first wicket at a swift pace. Jaiswal played a poor stroke to be stumped off left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel, while Rohit was dismissed in unlucky fashion. He defended one from Ajaz, only for the ball to bounce behind him and dislodge the stumps.

With the openers back in the hut, Kohli and Sarfaraz joined forced and featured in an excellent third-wicket stand. The latter raced to 50 off 42 balls and ended up hitting seven fours and three sixes in his unbeaten 70. As for Kohli, his knock featured eight fours and a six.

Earlier in the day, New Zealand put up 402 in their first innings. Rachin Ravindra (134) notched up his second Test hundred, while Tim Southee hammered 65 off 73 balls, with the aid of five fours and four sixes.
