MI Cape Town bagged a massive 98-run victory over Joburg Super Kings in the fourth match of SA20 2024, while Durban Super Giants secured a 35-run win over Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the fifth clash.

Durban Super Giants hold the pole position in the standings with two consecutive wins, bagging eight points at a net run rate (NRR) of 1.26. They defeated MI Cape Town by 11 runs in the first game, while stunning Eastern Cape by 35 runs in the second contest.

MI Cape Town make a strong comeback after losing their initial encounter. They are carrying the second position with five points at an NRR of 2.384. Paarl Royals are third with one win in one game, bagging four points.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape have suffered one defeat and encountered one no result in two contests so far, racking up two points. Joburg Super Kings are also having similar fortunes, picking up just two points from two games at an NRR of -4.9.

Pretoria Capitals are holding the wooden spoon after losing the game against Paarl Royals by 27 runs at an NRR of -1.35.

Rassie van der Dussen and JJ Smuts go all guns blazing

Speaking about the first game of the day, MI Cape Town batted first and posted a dominating total of 243/5 in 20 overs. Openers Rassie van der Dussen (104) and Ryan Rickleton (98) were the standout batters.

In reply, the Joburg Super Kings got bundled out for just 145 runs in 17.5 overs. Leus du Plooy was the top-scorer with 48 runs. George Linde and Olly Stone scalped two wickets apiece, while Beuran Hendricks, Kagiso Rabada, Liam Livingstone, and Sam Curran scalped a wicket apiece.

Moving to the second game of the day, Durban Super Giants posted a whopping total of 225/3 in 20 overs. Breetzkee (43), JJ Smuts (75), and Nicholas Pooran (60) were the star players with the willow.

In reply, Sunrises Eastern Cape could score only 190/9 in 20 overs, losing the game by 35 runs. Tom Abell was the top-scorer with 65 runs, while Tristan Stubbs smacked a 55-run knock. Richard Gleeson, Dwaine Pretorius, and JJ Smuth scalped two wickets apiece.
