Sai Sudharsan receives his debut T20I cap from Shubman Gill ahead of second game against Zimbabwe
The young left-handed batter Sai Sudharsan is set to make his T20I debut for India against Zimbabwe in the second game of the five-match series. Indian captain Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bat first; Sai Sudharsan came in for Khaleel Ahmed.
The young Indian batter becomes the fourth player to make his debut in this series. Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel received their maiden caps in the first game.
Sai Sudharsan made his India debut in an ODI series against South Africa in December 2023. The left-handed batter scored 127 runs in three innings at an average of 63.5. He struck two fifties, with 62 being the highest.
Sai Sudharsan is coming after a decent run in IPL 2024. The Gujarat Titan player scored 527 runs in 12 matches at an average of 47.9. He hit two fifties and a century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match number 59 played at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Zimbabwe defeated India by 13 runs in the first game of the series
India won the toss and asked Zimbabwe to bat in the first game of the five-match series played at Harare Sports Club on Saturday, July 6. Zimbabwe didn’t start well, as they lost opener Innocent Kaia in the second over.
Dion Myers (23) and Clive Madande (29*) fought hard, as Zimbabwe only managed to score 115 runs in their 20 overs. For India, Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers. The leg-spinner took four wickets and conceded only 13 runs in his spell of four overs.
In response, India didn’t start well and lost half of the team within 10 overs for just 43 runs. Captain Shubman Gill scored 31 runs off 29 balls as Zimbabwe took things under control. India needed 16 off the last over, with Washington Sundar on strike. However, veteran pacer Tendai Chatar was brilliant, as Zimbabwe won the match by 13 runs.
