Team India beat Afghanistan by 47 runs in the 43rd match of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Thursday (June 20). The Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, hosted the clash. India boosted their net run rate early in the Super 8 phase with a comfortable victory.

After opting to bat first, India notched up 181/8 in 20 overs on a two-paced track. Suryakumar Yadav (53) starred in the batting department with an aggressive half-century while his teammates struggled. Hardik Pandya (32) supported him with a quality knock. Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi scalped three wickets apiece for Afghanistan with the ball.

"I think the pitch was good enough to score 160-170"- Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan after loss vs India in 2024 T20 World Cup

At the post-match presentation, Afghan skipper Rashid Khan reflected on the loss, saying:

"Well I think the pitch was good enough to score 160-170. It's about going there and how you play. At the top order it becomes a bit difficult against the better teams. Body is going well now. I am back hitting the right areas consistently but it's the result of the match which matters."

Rashid continued:

"We have enjoyed everywhere we have played. You just rely on your skills and own self on how to deliver. More importantly how you are gonna play on the conditions whether it's batting or bowling friendly."

Australia will face Bangladesh in the next match of the 2024 T20 World Cup at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, later today.
