Senior Team India cricketer KL Rahul starts training intensely ahead of Sri Lanka tourĀ
Team India stalwart KL Rahul has commenced training ahead of the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. The 32-year-old was last seen on the field during IPL 2024, where he captained the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise. The LSG side had a disappointing season, as they failed to make it to the playoffs, finishing in the seventh spot.
Rahul took a break from the sport after a hectic schedule for a while following the conclusion of IPL 2024. He went on a vacation to rejuvenate himself and gave glimpses of it to his fans by sharing pictures on his Instagram handle.
The Karnataka player recently returned and has commenced training to get himself back to the grind again ahead of the Sri Lanka tour. KL Rahul's wife, Athiya Shetty, took to her official Instagram handle and shared a picture through the story to give a peek at his preparations for the comeback.

KL Rahul to lead India in ODI series in Sri Lanka tour in Rohit Sharma's absence - Reports
Rohit Sharma-led Indian team emerged victorious at the recently concluded 2024 T20 World Cup and ended the 11-year ICC trophy drought for the nation. After playing non-stop cricket for a couple of months, senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to be rested for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.
The Men in Blue will travel to Sri Lanka soon to play three T20Is and as many ODI matches between July 26 and August 7. According to PTI, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul might captain the Indian teams in T20I and ODI formats against the Lankan side on this tour.
"Both are automatic choices in ODI set up and the three 50-over games against England before the Champions Trophy is good enough practice for them," a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity. "For next few months, they both will prioritize Tests and India will play 10 of them between September to January."
KL Rahul also led the ODI side during the South Africa tour last December in Rohit Sharma's absence. India won the three-match series by a 2-1 margin.
