Shaheen Afridi creates history by becoming first Pakistan bowler to achieve rare feat in 1st SA vs PAK 2024 T20I

Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi made history during the first T20I of the three-match series against South Africa on Tuesday, December 10, by becoming the first player from the Men in Green to take 100 wickets across all three formats.

Heading into the game, Shaheen had 97 T20I wickets. He bowled a stellar spell, claiming three wickets for just 22 runs in his four overs, bringing his total to 100 wickets in 74 matches. He joins Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf as the only Pakistanis to achieve this remarkable feat.

With this achievement, the 24-year-old became the only Pakistani bowler to claim 100 wickets across all three formats. The left-arm pacer has taken 116 wickets in 31 Tests, including four five-wicket hauls, and has picked up 112 wickets in 56 ODIs.

Solid contributions from David Miller and George Linde help South Africa post decent total on the board

Captain Heinrich Klaasen (12) and Donovan Ferreira (7) struggled to make an impact, but David Miller played a superb innings, keeping the scoreboard ticking at a healthy rate. Miller struck three consecutive sixes off Abrar Ahmed in the 10th over, bringing up his fifty in just 28 balls.

The left-handed batter finished with an explosive 82 off 40 balls, including four boundaries and eight sixes. Toward the end, George Linde contributed with a quick-fire 48 off 24 balls, helping South Africa reach 183 for nine in their 20 overs.
