Shaheen Afridi could be reprimanded for inappropriate behavior against Gary Kirsten and other Pakistan coaches: Reports
Pakistani speedster Shaheen Afridi was reportedly found misbehaving with white-ball coach Gary Kirsten during the recent tours. According to a report from Geo News, it is claimed that Afridi was also rude to assistant coach Azhar Mahmood.
The reported incidents happened during Pakistan's tour of Ireland and in the T20 World Cup. Despite the allegations, the team managers took no action against the star pacer.
Here's what a source was quoted as telling Geo News:
"Shaheen misbehaved with the coaches and management during recent tours but no action was taken by the team managers on the pacer's inappropriate behaviour."
The source claimed that the board is investigating why Shaheen Afridi wasn't punished for his misbehavior.
Pakistan's coaches complained of players' lack of discipline
The report further mentioned that the coaches have been frustrated with the lack of discipline among some players during the tour. The board is reportedly going to have an inquiry on that aspect as well.
"The board is also probing players who have lobbies and the benefit that is being gained from it. Sources have further said that the team's coaches have complained to the PCB chairman about the non-seriousness of players and disciplinary violations in recent tours," the source added.
Pakistan cricket has been in the headlines ever since their disastrous T20 World Cup campaign where they lost to the USA and India and failed to make it to the Super 8 stage. Babar Azam, who had taken over from Shaheen Afridi as the captain, has come under heavy scrutiny from several former cricketers.
The board has also taken the big decision to sack former cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz from the selection committee. Only time will tell whether there are several other major calls made.
