Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised his Tamil Nadu teammate Baba Indrajith for scoring a half-century on Day 1 of the India C vs India B match in the 2024 Duleep Trophy on Thursday, September 12. The game is being played at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B in Anantapur.
Indrajith and Ishan Kishan forged a remarkable 189-run partnership off 252 balls for the third wicket before Kishan was dismissed for a well-crafted 111 off 126 balls, including 14 boundaries and three sixes. Indrajith scored 78 off 136 balls, hitting nine boundaries, marking his second half-century of the 2024 Duleep Trophy season.
Indian cricketer R. Ashwin took to X to congratulate Ishan Kishan, mentioning that fans and analysts will thoroughly discuss Kishan's performance. Consequently, Ashwin chose to refrain from detailed commentary and instead expressed his support for Baba Indrajith, praising him for his exceptional skill and class.

The 30-year-old scored a half-century for India C in their first game against India D. Batting at No. 5, the right-handed batter made 72 off 149 balls, contributing significantly to his team's four-run lead in the first innings. India C won the game by four wickets.

Asked to bat first, India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad struck a boundary on the first ball but was forced to retire hurt on the second. Sai Sudharsan and Rajat Patidar then formed a 92-run partnership for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed by Navdeep Saini for 40.
Soon after, Mukesh Kumar removed Sai Sudharsan for 43 off 75 balls, including eight boundaries. Ishan Kishan and Baba Indrajith added 189 runs for the third wicket off 252 balls. Kishan scored 111 off 126 balls, while Indrajith made 78 off 136 balls.
At stumps on Day 1, India C was 357/5, with Gaikwad (46) and Manav Suthar (8) at the crease. Mukesh Kumar stood out for India B with three wickets.
