"Smash your fears!" - Gautam Gambhir plays badminton after completion of India's Sri Lanka tour
Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir's tenure with the national team started on an impressive note, with the Men in Blue completing a 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series over Sri Lanka. However, India could not replicate the same success in the subsequent 50-over matches as Sri Lanka clinched a historic 2-0 win in the three-match series.
After the culmination of India's Sri Lanka tour, Gambhir was seen unwinding by playing badminton. He shared a video on his official Instagram handle on Tuesday, August 13, in which he can be seen hitting a smash.
Gambhir captioned the post:
"Smash your fears!"
Before being appointed as India's new head coach, Gautam Gambhir was the mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team in their title-winning IPL 2024 campaign.
"An excellent tactician and an exceptional leader of people" - Robin Uthappa on Gautam Gambhir
Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir shared the dressing room for several years during their respective stints with the KKR. Uthappa was also an integral part of the Gambhir-Kolkata team in 2014 when they won their second IPL trophy.
Uthappa believes that Gambhir has proven his worth as a leader and backed him to have a successful run as India's head coach. He also mentioned that the ex-KKR skipper would create an atmosphere which brings the best out of the players.
Speaking to TimesofIndia.com, the former cricketer said:
"He [Gambhir] will seek out major opportunities and strive to seize them. As a leader, I can vouch for his ability to create an environment that enables people to thrive. He is that kind of leader — more than just a great captain, he's also an excellent tactician and an exceptional leader of people."
India will now take on Bangladesh in a two-match home Test series. The first Test will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19.
