Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin took to social media on Monday, December 23, to share a reflective post alongside a picture of himself, offering a thoughtful message as he looked back on his illustrious career.

The Tamil Nadu cricketer announced his retirement from international cricket after the conclusion of the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane, which ended in a draw.

On Monday, the 38-year-old took to Instagram to share a picture from the team bus with the Indian flag in the background, captioning the post with the famous Dr. Seuss quote:

"Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

The off-spinner’s message encourages everyone to appreciate the moments and memories that have defined his career, highlighting a positive and grateful outlook as he looks ahead to the next chapter.

Ashwin had a remarkable career, finishing second on the list of most wickets for India across all formats. He took 765 wickets in 287 matches, including 37 five-wicket hauls.

Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement during the post-match conference after the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with ODI and Test skipper Rohit Sharma present. Later, the Mumbai cricketer took to Instagram to share a message for Ashwin, writing:

“We've played together for so many years and created so many memories which I'll cherish forever. You've been a match-winner since match 1 & left a lasting impression on all the young bowlers coming through the ranks. I'm sure we'll have a lot of upcoming young people with the classic Ashwin action.”
“You are a true OG & legend of Indian Cricket & World Cricket and this team will miss having you. Wishing the best to you & your lovely family for what lies ahead,” Rohit added.
