“So much hard work” - David Warner lauds Sarfaraz Khan for scoring maiden century during IND vs NZ 1st Test 2024
Former Australian batter David Warner took to social media to commend India's Sarfaraz Khan for scoring his maiden Test century. The 26-year-old reached the milestone on Day 4 of the ongoing first Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, October 19.
Sarfaraz ended Day 3 with a score of 70 off 78 balls and continued to impress on the morning of Day 4, reaching his century with a boundary off 110 balls. Warner praised the young Indian batter for his outstanding performance on Instagram.
He wrote on his Instagram story:
“Well done @sarfarazkhan97. So much hard work. Awesome to see this.”
Meanwhile, Warner retired from international cricket following the 2024 T20 World Cup. The 37-year-old played 112 Tests for his country, accumulating 8,786 runs, including 37 fifties and 26 centuries.
He participated in 161 ODIs, scoring 6,932 runs at an average of 45.30, which featured 33 half-centuries and 22 hundreds. Additionally, Warner played in 110 T20Is, amassing 3,277 runs, with 28 fifties and one century to his name.

The hosts were bowled out for a mere 46 runs in their first innings, marking their third-lowest total in Test cricket.
In response, the Kiwis posted 402 runs, led by a brilliant century from Rachin Ravindra (134). Devon Conway (91) and Tim Southee (65) also made valuable contributions, giving the visitors a first-innings lead of 356 runs.
India started their comeback with fifties from senior batters Rohit Sharma (52) and Virat Kohli (70). Sarfaraz Khan made a notable impact by scoring his maiden Test century. The right-handed batter has formed an unbeaten partnership of 113 runs off 132 balls with Rishabh Pant.
At Lunch on Day 4, the hosts were at 344 for three after 71 overs, trailing by just 12 runs, with Sarfaraz (125) and Pant (53) at the crease.
