"Someone's not able to take off"- Suryakumar Yadav's wife Devisha on star batter after India's T20 World Cup triumph

Star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav's wife Devisha Shetty shared a video of her husband wearing the T20 World Cup winners' medal. India beat South Africa in a thrilling T20 World Cup final by seven runs on Saturday, June 29, to end an 11-year wait for ICC silverware.

Suryakumar is still buzzing with the result and Devisha posted a video of the Mumbai Indians batter's excitement on her Instagram story.

"Someonse's no able to take off the (gold medal emoji)," she captioned the post.

Suryakumar didn't make a massive contribution with the bat in the final. However, he took a sensational catch to dismiss David Miller in the last over of the game.

The immense pressure under which Suryakumar took the catch and the way he kept the ball in play without touching the boundary cushion with his foot has made it a moment immortal in Indian cricketing folklore.

She has been keeping me very humble: Suryakumar Yadav on Devisha

Suryakumar Yadav believes his wife Devisha played a crucial role in keeping him humble and grounded throughout the tournament. He didn't have many words to express after the win as he wanted to be in the moment and soak it all in.

He said in a video posted by BCCI:

"I don't know what to say right now. It will maybe take a day or two to sink in. Maybe when we will land in India, we will come to know what has happened. Just living in the moment, enjoying everything right now with family around. She has been keeping me very humble since the start of the tournament. We haven't spoken about it, but at the back of the mind we had it that we will take this (winners' medal) back home."

In eight T20 World Cup 2024 matches, Suryakumar scored 199 runs at an average of 28.42 and a strike rate of 135.37 with a couple of crucial half-centuries to his name.
