South Africa batting coach Ashwell Prince dedicated a special song to captain Temba Bavuma in the dressing room after the historic 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) triumph on Saturday, June 14. The Proteas team beat Australia by five wickets in the final to lift their first ICC trophy after 27 years.
South African players and support staff members were elated after the victory, as it came after years of heartbreak in ICC tournaments during the past two decades.
Batting coach Ashwell Prince applauded captain Temba Bavuma's efforts in the success by singing a special song mentioning his name. Others also joined in soon as they celebrated the win and paid tribute to their captain's performance, who played knocks of 36 (84) and 66 (134) while dealing with hamstring pain.

"We have been able to silence the doubters"- Temba Bavuma after 2025 WTC final win vs Australia
Speaking at the post-match presentation, winning captain Temba Bavuma expressed satisfaction with his team's performance and opined that they silenced their doubters. He said:
"It's been a special couple of days! All the support from back home and here has paid off. We have been able to silence the doubters and put together a special performance! Hopefully, it is going to sink in a couple of days. The energy was certainly there and we did not give in at any stage. There have been heartaches in the past, but, the sun is on us at the moment, and we need to ride that momentum."
The 35-year-old added:
"Aiden Markram was unbelievable! He showed character, and he came out in the second innings to bat in true Aiden fashion! Character is the word for him. Us as a team, we got ourselves in the final. There were questions asked, but, here was an opportunity for us to make that proved wrong. Chance now for us to celebrate WTC win with our country!"
New Zealand and Australia were the WTC mace winners in the 2021 and 2023 editions of the tournament.
