South African batting legend AB de Villiers recorded the moment when Aiden Markram scored a century and applauded the batter from the stands. South Africa and Australia are playing the 2025 WTC final.
In the fourth innings on Day 3 on Friday, South African Aiden Markram registered a sparkling hundred. He remained unbeaten at the end of play on 102 off 159 balls, hitting 11 boundaries in his knock.
AB de Villiers was in attendance at Lord's on Day 3 of the 2025 WTC final. He was watching from the stands in South Africa's Test jersey, supporting them. As for AB de Villiers, the South African great played 114 Tests for the country. He scoerd 8765 runs at an average of 50.66 with 22 hundreds and 46 fifties to his name.
Markram ton puts South Africa in complete control heading into Day 4 of 2025 WTC final
Heading into the fourth day of the 2025 WTC final, South Africa need only 69 more runs with eight wickets in hand to win the Test and the title. They were set a target of 282 when they began the fourth innings.
A sensational unbeaten ton from Aiden Markram has put the Proteas in complete control. While Markram remained unbeaten on 102, skipper Temba Bavuma made an equally crucial contribution. Bavuma slammed a fifty as well, remaining unbeaten on 65 off 121 balls despite suffering a hamstring injury.
The duo together ensured that South Africa gave nothing away after having lost two wickets early on, ending the day on 213/2. They forged an unbeaten 143-run partnership for the third wicket off 232 balls.
South Africa are now on the cusp of a historic victory at Lord's. They head into the fourth day as favorites. Australia had won the previous final in 2023 by defeating India at The Oval. However, South Africa, in their maiden appearance in a WTC final, seem all set to win the title from this point.
