"Spent 15 minutes adjusting the sight-screen" - Fans troll Babar Azam for 4-ball duck in 1st SA vs PAK 2024 T20I
Ace Pakistan batter Babar Azam was dismissed for a four ball duck in the ongoing T20I against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban. The former skipper opened the innings alongside skipper Mohammad Rizwan and became the first wicket to fall.
Babar had a limited role to play in the field, with the Pakistani ace batter's services being reduced to nothing on the ground. He wasn't involved in a catch and failed to effect a run out as well, with South Africa going on to register a sizeable total on board.
Babar played a couple of deliveries, which were the last deliveries of the first and the second over. He faced a delivery from Kwena Maphaka before deciding to ramp him over deep third.
That brought about an end to Babar's stay in the middle as the ball went straight down the throat of the fielder stationed there. The 30 year old became Maphaka's second T20I wicket and was dismissed for a four ball duck.
Babar Azam's dismissal saw a huge influx of memes and funny reactions to the batter's dismissal on social media. Take a look at some of the posts below:
"Babar Azam spent 15 minutes adjusting the sight-screen, survived a run-out and still got out for a duck vs 18 yr IPL kid Maphaka. Imagine being this bad 😠#SAvPAK" - a user had to say.
"Everything in life is unpredictable except Babar Azam and his performance with bat" - another user commented.
"A batsman like Babar Azam opening in T20 cricket—doesn’t it disrespect the format? #SAvPAK" - a third user quipped.
Pressure mounting on Pakistan as they lose three wickets against South Africa in the SA vs PAK 2024 T20I series
After Babar Azam, Saim Ayub (31 in 15) came to the middle and played a fine knock before Andile Simelane sent him back to the hut. Pakistan would then go on to lose Usman Khan (9 off 8) as Pakistan were on 93/3 after 12 overs.
Earlier, South Africa posted 183/9 batting first with David Miller (82 off 40) and George Linde (48 off 24) playing some fine knocks. Shaheen Shah Afridi (3/22) and Abrar Ahmed (3/37) were two successful bowlers for the visitors who managed to restrict the Proteas batters.
