Sri Lanka's Dushmanta Chameera ruled out of upcoming series against India due to injury - ReportsĀ

Sri Lanka speedster Dushmanta Chameera has reportedly sustained a last-minute injury, forcing him out of the upcoming white-ball series against India. He was included in the Charith Asalanka-led squad announced by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) recently.

According to a report by Sports Pavilion Lanka, a replacement is yet to be named by the management, with only a couple of days remaining for the tour to begin.

Chameera has had a frustrating string of injuries over the last couple of years. Since the 2022 T20 World Cup, he has been unable to play across formats consistently. He recently turned up for the Kandy Falcons in the 2024 Lanka Premier League (LPL), where he played five matches. His last appearance came on July 9, where he finished with figures of 2-44 against eventual champions, Jaffna.

Before the LPL, he was an injury replacement for Gus Atkinson at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Although he was named in the Sri Lanka squad for the T20 World Cup, he failed to record a single appearance as Nuwan Thushara and Matheesha Pathirana were preferred.
