Star Indian batter moves up to second place in latest ICC Women's ODI rankings

India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana surged to second place in the latest women’s ICC ODI rankings for batters released on Tuesday, December 17. The left-handed batter rose three places to close the gap with table-topper Laura Wolvaardt after scoring 105 in the third ODI against Australia. The duo have 734 and 773 points, respectively.

Australia’s stand-in-captain for the series Tahlia McGrath also rose eight spots to 24th on the list of batters. On the other hand, India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur dropped two spots to 13th after returning with scores of 17, 38, and 12 in the three ODIs Down Under.

Meanwhile, Australia's Annabel Sutherland rose 15 places to 29th following her second ODI century in the third ODI. She also jumped four rungs to 20th among bowlers and three spots to ninth among all-rounders after scoring 122 runs and bagging six wickets in the three-match series.

Similarly, Australian all-rounder Ash Gardner rose one place to 16th among batters, two rungs to third among bowlers, and two spots to second for all-rounders after returning with seven wickets in the series.

Among bowlers in the latest women’s ICC ODI rankings, the other notable movers were England's Charlie Dean (rose two places to seventh), and South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp (jumped two runs to fourth). Australia's Megan Schutt remains in second place with 731 points.


Deepti Sharma closes in on World No.1 in the latest ICC T20I rankings for bowlers

Deepti Sharma also improved two places to reduce the gap to No.1 Sophie Ecclestone (England) in the latest women’s ICC T20I rankings. She now has 748 points, only behind Ecclestone’s 768. Meanwhile, West Indies bowler Karishma Ramharack rose six places to 20th after bagging two wickets against India in the series opener.

Among batters in the latest women’s ICC T20I rankings, India’s Jemimah Rodrigues made rapid strides, rising six places to 15th following her 73 off 35 in the first T20I against West Indies. Other notable movers were Deandra Dottin (up 21 rungs to 39th) and Qiana Joseph (rose 22 spots to 65th). The duo returned with scores of 52 (28) and 49 (33), respectively, in the first of the three-match series.
