[Watch] Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border predict the final scoreline of BGT 2024-25
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar and erstwhile Australia skipper Allan Border predicted the final scoreline of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) during the third Test in Brisbane on Saturday, December 14. With the series tied 1-1 and clouds looming over the ongoing game at the Gabba, the two skippers came up with contrasting reactions.
Gavaskar picked the tourists to win the last two Tests in Melbourne and Sydney, sealing the series 3-1.
On the other hand, Border picked the hosts to come third time lucky after they lost the previous two series against India at home by 2-1 margins during the 2018/19 and 2020/21 margins. He reckoned that Australia would win the series by the same scoreline.

Both Gavaskar and Border have over 10,000 runs in Tests. The series was named after them in 1996-97 when India won the one-off Test by a 1-0 margin at home. The four-game series began in 1997-98, when India won by 3-1 at home. This year, the series has been expanded into five games.
The Men in Blue are the most successful team in the tournament, winning it 10 out of 16 times, including a draw.
Legendary Sachin Tendulkar has the most runs in the series, with 3262 in 65 innings. Meanwhile, Australia's Nathan Lyon is the most successful bowler, picking up 116* wickets in 26 games.
"They have to forget what happened in Adelaide" - Sunil Gavaskar's message to Rohit Sharma and company
Sunil Gavaskar has suggested Team India forget their loss in the second Test and focus on the remaining three games. He wrote in his Sydney Morning Herald column ahead of the third Test:
"A quick turnaround in the fortunes is needed for Rohit Sharma and his team. They have to forget what happened in Adelaide and look at the series as the best of three matches. In every defeat, there are positives, but for the Indians the only plus was Nitish Kumar Reddy showing he is made for stern battles."
As far as the ongoing Test is concerned, Australia were 28 without loss after 13.2 overs at Stumps on Day 1. Rain washed away the second and third sessions.
