Super Smash 2023-24: Top run-getters and wicket-takers after Auckland Aces vs Otago Volts (Updated) ft. Cam Fletcher and Jock McKenzie
Auckland Aces took on Otago Volts in the 23rd match of the Super Smash 2023-24 on Sunday, January 14, at the Eden Park Outer Oval in Auckland. Otago elected to bat after winning the toss. Openers Hamish Rutherford and Jake Gibson could add only 11 runs before they were both dismissed.
Dean Foxcroft and Max Chu then stitched together a crucial partnership of 40 to take the score over the 50-run mark. Foxcroft scored 46 off 48 deliveries while Chu hit 30 off 17. Ben Lockrose played a decent knock of 22 off 13 deliveries down the order.
Otago were eventually bowled out for 138 in 19.3 overs. Jock McKenzie and Danru Ferns were the most successful bowlers for Auckland, taking three wickets each. Ben Lister and Sean Solia picked up a wicket apiece.
Auckland had a dismal start to their chase, losing their first three wickets for 34 runs. Cole Briggs and Cam Fletcher, however, added 105 for the fourth wicket to take their side over the line. Auckland reached the target of 139 in 17.5 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Fletcher remained unbeaten on 74 off 51 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award. Travis Muller, Andrew Hazeldine, and Jacob Duffy took one wicket each.

Tim Robinson is still the leading run-scorer in the Super Smash 2023-24. He has 298 runs to his name in six matches at an average of 59.60 and a strike rate of 187.42.
Henry Nicholls retained the second spot. He has made 213 runs in six innings at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 147.91.
Dane Cleaver remains the third-highest run-scorer this season, scoring 192 runs in seven matches at an average of 27.42.
Dean Foxcroft jumped to fourth place after his recent heroics. He has made 189 runs in seven innings at an average of 37.80 and a strike rate of 115.24.
Nick Kelly slipped to fifth place with 178 runs in seven matches at an average of 35.60 and a strike rate of 131.85.
Super Smash 2023-24 Most Wickets List
Bevan Small is still in first place on the list of leading wicket-takers in the Super Smash 2023-24 with 13 wickets in seven matches at an average of 12.84.
Danru Ferns, meanwhile, jumped to second place from fifth. He has also taken 13 wickets but at a slightly higher average of 13.15.
Peter Younghusband slipped to third place from second with 12 wickets in seven matches at an average of 14.25.
Louis Delport moved down to fourth place from third. He has taken 11 wickets in six matches at an average of 13.54.
Logan van Beek slipped to fifth position with 11 wickets in seven matches at an average of 20.63.
