Rain plays spoilsport in the 11th match of the Super50 Cup 2023

In the 10th match of the Super50 Cup 2023, Leeward Islands won the toss and elected to bat first. On the back of contributions from their middle-order batters Karima Gore (54), Hayden Walsh (49), and Jahmar Hamilton (54), they posted 244 on the board. Romario Shepherd and Veerasammy Permaul grabbed two wickets each for the Guyana Harpy Eagles.

Chasing 245, the Guyana Harpy Eagles had a shaky start but Sherfane Rutherford walked in to bat at number seven and changed the whole complexion of the match. He hit seven boundaries and eight maximums to remain unbeaten on 105 off just 71 balls to help his side chase down the total in the 48th over with four wickets in hand. Kofi James for the Islands picked up three scalps but they failed to defend the total.

The 11th match of the Super50 Cup 2023 was played between West Indies Academy and Barbados Pride at Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St Augustine. West Indies Academy were asked to bat first and had a disastrous start as their top four batters got dismissed for single-digit scores.

They were reeling at 31/5 before Kevin Wickham (43) and skipper Nyeem Young (67*) resurrected the innings. They were 141/6 in 38.1 overs before rain played a spoilsport and washed out the fixture. Dominic Drakes and Jair McAllister picked up two wickets each for Barbados Pride but they will be disappointed as the game was abandoned.
