Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 top run-getters and wicket-takers after Day 5 (Updated) ft. Tilak Varma and Debabrata Pradhan 

Eighteen games took place on Day 5 of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023, Monday, October 23, with plenty of exciting results in all five groups.

In Group A, Mumbai strengthened their pole position, winning five straight games and bagging 20 points. Baroda and Hyderabad have secured four wins apiece. J&K registered their first win of the season against Meghalaya to claim the sixth position.

Moving to Group B, Kerala have secured five back-to-back wins to occupy the top rank. HP have bagged four wins, while Chandigarh, Odisha and Assam have racked up three wins apiece. Bihar and Sikkim are yet to win a game.

In Group C, Punjab and Goa have bagged four wins apiece to occupy the top two positions. Meanwhile, Saurashtra, Gujarat, Railways, and Andhra have secured three wins apiece. Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh have been eliminated from the competition, as they're winless after five games.

In Group D, Vidarbha have displayed sheer dominance with four straight wins. Bengal and Jharkhand have had three wins so far, with Maharashtra securing two. Rajasthan and Uttarakhand have managed just one win apiece.

In Group E, Delhi are strong favourites to move to the knockouts with four wins. UP, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have two wins apiece, while MP and Tripura have won just one game each. Nagaland are yet to win a game.

Punjab opener Abhishek Sharma smacked a 112-run knock against Gujarat to amass 364 runs in the competition at an average of 72.8. Assam captain Riyan Parag jumped up the list to secure the second rank, accumulating 311 runs at an average of 103.66.

Kerala's impact player Vishnu Vinod smacked a 79-run knock against Sikkim to occupy the third position, scoring 306 runs overall at an average of 76.5. Bihar opener Bipin Saurabh has also climbed up the ranks, racking up 272 runs in five innings at an average of 54.4 and a strike rate of 160.94.

Hyderabad captain Tilak Varma smacked an unbeaten 121-run knock against Baroda to make it 271 runs overall in five innings at an average of 271. He's fifth in the list of scoring charts.

Interestingly, pacers are ruling the bowling charts. Hyderabad right-arm pacer T Ravi Teja has bagged 14 wickets in five innings to continue to lead the standings. Odisha pacer Debabrata Pradhan scalped four wickets against Bihar to take second place, scalping 13 wickets.

Andhra left-arm pacer C Stephen jumped up the rankings to occupy the third rank with 13 wickets. Delhi leg-spinner Suyash Sharma has picked up 12 wickets to take the fourth position. Baroda's Atit Sheth is fifth with 12 wickets.
