T20 Blast 2023 Points Table: Updated Standings after Warwickshire vs Yorkshire
Warwickshire went to the top of the points table in the North Group of the T20 Blast 2023 after beating Yorkshire by 34 runs at Edgbaston in Birmingham. With a net run rate of +1.700, they have made a brilliant start to the competition.
Lancashire are in second place with two points and a net run rate of +0.516 after they beat Derbyshire by four wickets in Birmingham.
Lancashire, Warwickshire secure comprehensive wins in T20 Blast 2023
In the first game of the day, Lancashire eased past Derbyshire without having to break a sweat. After being put into bat, Derbyshire lost the early wicket of Haider Ali, who failed to open his account. But Wayne Madsen took charge and scored a half-century, taking Derbyshire to 179 for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.
Skipper Leus du Plooy and Aneurin Donald played handy cameos of 33 and 30* respectively. Luke Wood was the pick of the bowlers for Lancashire, finishing with figures of 4-0-31-3. Tom Hartley and Danny Lamb picked up one wicket apiece.
In response, opening batter Luke Wells scored 66 runs off 35 balls with nine fours and three sixes. On the back of his knock, Lancashire romped home with four balls to spare. Zaman Khan and Zak Chappell picked up two wickets apiece for Derbyshire.
Warwickshire beat Yorkshire comfortably in the second game of the day. After being put into bat, the hosts amassed 200 for the loss of six wickets. Sam Hain was the star of the show after he racked up 83 runs off 45 balls with seven fours and four sixes. Chris Benjamin chipped in with 46 runs off 28 balls to take his team to the 200-run mark.
Henry Brookes then picked up four wickets to help Warwickshire bowl Yorkshire out for 166 in 19.5 overs. Dawid Malan, Dominic Bess and Jafar Chohan scored 43, 42* and 37, respectively, in a losing cause.
