T20 World Cup winner Hardik Pandya to reach home town Vadodara today
Team India's vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who recently won the 2024 T20 World Cup, will reach Vadodara today (July 15). This is the first time he will visit his hometown since winning the prestigious trophy.
Hardik, one of the key architects behind India's T20 World Cup victory, was part of the celebrations in Mumbai. He was part of the open bus roadshow in the Marine Drive before attending a celebratory event at the Wankhede Stadium.
The ace all-rounder was recently spotted attending the wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
Hardik Pandya, who will now visit his home town Vadodara in Gurajat, took to Instagram to announce that he would reach Vadodara in the evening.
"See you this evening Baroda," Hardik wrote.
After a disappointing campaign with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2024, Hardik scripted an incredible turnaround in the T20 World Cup. He made all-round contributions and was one of Rohit Sharma's go-to men.
Hardik scored 144 runs in six innings at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 151.57. The right-arm seamer also picked up 11 wickets with the best figures of 3/20 in the final against South Africa in Barbados.
Hardik Pandya likely to lead against Sri Lanka in ODIs - Reports
Hardik Pandya has emerged as one of the front-runners to lead the Men in Blue in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is another candidate to take the leadership baton in the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma. Senior cricketers, including Rohit and Virat Kohli, are likely to be rested for the series against the Lankans.
While Hardik was Rohit's assistant in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA, Rahul led India in their last ODI assignment against South Africa.
The Men in Blue will play three ODIs and as many T20Is against Sri Lanka, starting from July 27.
