T20 World Cup-winning batting coach Vikram Rathour joins Rahul Dravid at Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2025
Former Team India batting coach Vikram Rathour was announced as Rajasthan Royals' (RR) batting coach ahead of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Royals announced the development on their official social media platforms on Friday, September 20.
Rathour was a part of India's coaching setup after the 2019 ODI World Cup. He has been credited for helping Team India's lower-order batters play a fine hand in overseas Tests. Rathour was a part of India's triumph against Australia in the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Trophy and India's famous wins at Lords and The Oval against England in 2021.
Rathour ended his tenure on a high, with Team India winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. Abhishek Nayar replaced the former batter in a revamped coaching set-up as the Royals acquired Rathour's services.
On Friday, Rajasthan Royals took to their official X account and wrote:
"Rathour bhi, Royal bhi! 💗 T20 World Cup winning coach Vikram Rathour joins our support staff and reunites with Rahul Dravid! 🤝🔥"

Rahul Dravid was earlier appointed Rajasthan Royals' new head coach
Vikram Rathour joins former Team India head coach Rahul Dravid at Rajasthan Royals, who recently confirmed the legendary batter's appointment. A former Royals player and mentor, Dravid was delighted to join the team again.
The 51-year-old told RR's official site:
"I am pleased to be returning to the franchise I have called 'home' for a number of years in the past. After the World Cup, I feel it's the ideal time for me to take on another challenge, and the Royals is the perfect place to do that … It's an exciting opportunity for us to take this team to the next level given the kind of talent and resources we have at our disposal and I'm looking forward to getting started."
Rahul and Rathour were a part of the coaching set-up that helped Team India lift their second T20 World Cup earlier this year.
