"Take it down immediately, issue an apology" - Sunil Gavaskar threatens legal action against website over fake article praising Bumrah and Kohli
Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has called out a website for posting a fake article praising Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli and attributing it to him. The former India captain clarified that he didn't write any such article. He also instructed the website to take down the fake article immediately and issue an apology, failing which he would take legal action.
Gavaskar is among the cricket experts for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. As always, he has been sharing his frank views on various matters related to the game.
On Saturday, November 23, the former India opener took to his official Instagram handle to issue a clarification over a fake article on a website, which was uploaded with his byline. In a video post, the 75-year-old said:
"Hi, this is Sunil Gavaskar and I want to say that there is a website cricket ception which has printed an article under my name. I have to say that that is completely fake, I have not contributed that at all and I want to tell that website to take it down immediately."
"Issue an apology. If you don't do that immediately, I will give the matter to my legal team. So don't believe a word of what you've read, this is a completely fake article and attributed to me," the former India captain went on to add.
Gavaskar shared the clarification video on his Instagram handle with the caption:
"Never believe everything you see on the Internet #alwaysverify."
The article in question is titled, 'A New Era in Leadership: Bumrah’s Captaincy and Kohli’s Leadership Revive Team India' and goes on to eulogize the two superstars of Indian cricket.
Sunil Gavaskar praises Yashasvi Jaiswal for his knock of 90* on Day 2 of the Perth Test
Gavaskar was effusive in his praise of young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal after the Mumbai batter scored an impressive 90* on Day 2 of the Perth Test against Australia. The left-hander struck seven fours and two sixes in his knock. Hailing the youngster while speaking to local broadcasters, the cricket legend commented:
"Yashasvi Jaiswal has the cricketing world at his feet. He is hungry for runs and that's exactly what Indian cricket needs. A left-hander who, at the top of the order, can create problem for the bowlers. He brings a completely different perspective. He loves to play his shots, and isn't an ultra-watchful batter. He will play his shots."
At stumps on Day 2 of the Perth Test, India were 172-0 in 57 overs in their second innings, stretching their lead to 218 runs. KL Rahul (62*) was giving Jaiswal company at the close of play.
