Team India become the side with the most 200+ totals in T20s after batting heroics in IND vs BAN 2024 3rd T20I
Team India becomes the side with the most 200+ totals to their name after scoring 297/6 in their batting essay on Saturday, October 12. They achieved this feat in the final T20I of their three-match series against Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Batting first Team India posted a gargantuan total. After losing Abhishek Sharma early, Sanju Samson (111 off 47) and Suryakumar Yadav (75 off 35) stitched together a 173-run partnership. After their dismissal, Hardik Pandya (47 off 18) and Riyan Parag (34 off 13) added 70 runs for the fourth wicket and kept the flow of runs going. On the last ball of the innings, Rinku Singh smashed a six to end on a high, scoring 297/6.
Team India broke the record for the highest T20I total for a Test-playing nation, going past 278/3 scored back Afghanistan against Ireland back in 2019. They also fell 17 runs short of surpassing the highest total - 314/3 after 20 overs- scored by Nepal against Mongolia in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
India also now holds the record for most 200+ totals in T20 cricket, doing so on 37 occasions. They are the only international team in that list, with T20 teams in Somerset (36), Chennai Super Kings (35), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (33) and Yorkshire (31). The next international team on that list is Australia, with the Kangaroos scoring 200+ 23 times.
Team India win the 3rd T20I by 133 runs and win the IND vs BAN T20I series 3-0
With 298 runs to chase in 20 overs, Bangladesh had a poor start losing the wicket of Parvez Hossain Emon on the first ball. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals with only Towhid Hridoy (63 off 42) and Liton Das (42 off 25) being the only batters to score in excess of 20 runs.
Ravi Bishnoi, playing his first match of the series, shone with the ball as he picked up three wickets. Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav picked up two wickets as Bangladesh finished on 164/7.
Team India has beaten Bangladesh across Tests and T20Is, whitewashing them comprehensively. Sanju Samson was awarded the Player of the Match for his maiden T20I century. Hardik Pandya was awarded the Player of the Series for his consistent performances throughout the three-match T20I series.
