Team India bond with UAE players amid the ongoing Women's Asia Cup

Team India cricketers were seen interacting with their United Arab Emirates (UAE) counterparts after the two teams went at loggerheads on Sunday, July 21, in Dambulla. The Women in Blue secured a thumping victory by 78 runs in that game.

The BCCI Women X account recently shared a video where cricketers from both contingents were seen having a heart-to-heart conversation. The likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues were seen sharing their valuable knowledge with the young UAE players. They spoke about mindsets, preparations, and training procedures to keep up with the standards of international cricket.

Players from both camps were seen having lighthearted conversations and enjoying each other's company before posing for photographs.

Speaking of the Women's Asia Cup, India are currently atop Group A with four points from two games. Pakistan and Nepal occupy the next two spots, respectively, with two points each.

Harmanpreet Kaur and company began their Asia Cup campaign with a game against arch-rivals Pakistan on July 19. Indian bowlers wreaked havoc by restricting the Women in Green to 108 runs within 19.2 overs. Deepti Sharma picked up three wickets, while Pooja Vastrakar, Renuka Singh, and Shreyanka Patil returned with two scalps apiece.

In reply, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana set up the victory with an 85-run stand for the opening wicket. Shafali scored 40, while Mandhana amassed 45 to take the Women in Blue over the line in just 14.1 overs with seven wickets remaining.

India then locked horns with UAE where they posted record 201/5 after batting first. Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh stole the show with an unbeaten 64 off just 29 deliveries with the aid of 12 boundaries and a six. In reply, UAE could only manage 123/7 in their 20 overs, falling short by 78 runs.


India to lock horns with Nepal in their 3rd Women's Asia Cup tie

With two wins from as many games, Harmanpreet and company will lock horns with Nepal in their third group game on Tuesday, July 23, at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

The Women in Blue will look to continue their winning run and strengthen their position at the top of the Group A points table.
