Team India left-arm spinner shares news about son's birth with heartwarming post
Team India left-arm spinner Axar Patel shared a heartwarming update with fans on Tuesday (December 24) about the birth of his son. The Gujarati cricketer and his wife, Meha Patel, welcomed their first-born child, Haksh, on December 19. Axar and Meha got engaged in 2022 and then tied the knot in a traditional Gujarati wedding on January 26, 2023, in Vadodara.
Axar Patel took to his official Instagram handle this evening and shared a picture of his little son in a blue jersey, conveying the joyful news to the world about the birth of Haksh Patel. He wrote:
"He's still figuring out the off side from the leg, but we couldnt wait to introduce him to all of you in blue. World, welcome Haksh Patel, India's smallest, yet biggest fan, and the most special piece of our hearts. 19- 12- 2024 🩵🧿
Axar was last seen on the field during the T20I series in November against South Africa. He was ignored from the squad for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test series against Australia.
"He doesn't bowl when he plays or else doesn't play" - Aakash Chopra on Axar Patel being ignored from Indian squad for BGT 2024-25
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently analyzed Axar Patel's non-inclusion in the Test squad after Ravichandran Ashwin's retirement following the third Test of the BGT 2024-25 series. He opined that Axar was not getting fair opportunities even after performing consistently.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said:
"Axar Patel's name has not come. That's an interesting one because when you don't see Axar's name, you feel the guy is being wronged, and he is not getting proper opportunities. You get the feeling that somebody is not liking him (Axar Patel) enough. He doesn't bowl when he plays or else doesn't play."
On Ashwin's replacement in the squad, Tanush Kotian, Chopra added:
"Tanush Kotian has been doing well in first-class cricket. His numbers are decent, so you want to go towards him. However, a question definitely comes to my mind. Ideally, there should have been a leg-spinner. I felt since it was decided that Kuldeep Yadav won't go for the BGT, he was asked to get his surgery done quickly, although he wasn't playing the last series as well."
