
Team India observe minute's silence for Ahmedabad tragedy ahead of ENG vs IND 2025 Tests [In Pictures]
The Team India players and support staff members observed a minute's silence on Friday, June 13, to pay homage to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash tragedy. Shubman Gill and Co. paid the tribute ahead of the side's intra-squad match in Kent.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also revealed that all players will wear black armbands for the intra-squad warm-up match. The Indian board wrote on the microblogging platform X:
"The players and members of support staff involved in the intra-squad game in Beckenham are wearing black armbands. A minute's silence was also observed today to pay homage to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash, as a mark of respect for the lives lost and solidarity with the affected families."
The Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed into a medical hostel shortly after takeoff on Thursday, June 12. Reports suggest that 241 out of the 242 people on board passed away in the crash, with the passenger of seat 11A, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, being the lone survivor.
The casualty list included former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crash is also said to have been the cause of 265 lost lives. The official count of the deaths in the medical hostel is still awaited.
Team India look to gear up for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy by playing warm-up match against India A
Team India have kicked off their training ahead of the upcoming five-match Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy series against England. After training for a few days, they are set to feature in a warm-up fixture against India A.
The intra-squad match will be played at Kent County Cricket Ground, Beckenham, from June 13 to 16. The Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India A recently took on England Lions in two unofficial Tests.
Both games ended in draws. The much-awaited five-match Test series between Team India and England kicks off on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.
