Team India's revised schedule for international home season 2024-25: List of changes announced by BCCI

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, August 13, announced a revised schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 home season of the Indian senior men's cricket team. There have been tweaks in the India-Bangladesh T20I series and the India vs England T20I series.

An official release from the BCCI confirmed that the first T20I between India and Bangladesh, which was earlier set to be played in Dharamsala on October 6, will now be held in Gwalior. The decision has been taken owing to upgrades and renovation work being carried out by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in the dressing rooms.

Incidentally, the India-Bangladesh T20I to be played on October 6 will be the first international match at Gwalior new's stadium - the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. The last international game played in Gwalior was between India and South Africa at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium in 2010. This was the same game in which Sachin Tendulkar scored the first men's ODI double-century.

Meanwhile, the BCCI also announced a swap in venues of the first and second India vs England T20Is. Chennai was originally scheduled to host the first T20I, but will now host the second T20I. Kolkata, where the second T20I was supposed to be played, will now be the venue for the first T20I. The dates of the two matches (January 22 and January 25), however, remain the same.

Explaining the minor schedule change, BCCI's official release stated:

"The venue change was necessitated following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal regarding their prior Republic Day commitments and obligations."

The remaining three T20Is of the India-England series will be played in Rajkot, Pune, and Mumbai on January 28, January 31, and February 2, respectively.
