"That's a shame" - SRH skipper Pat Cummins grins as Harsha Bhogle informs him of rain ahead of KKR vs RR IPL 2024 match
SunRisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins had a grin on his face as Harsha Bhogle informed him of rains in Guwahati, which is the venue for the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals on Sunday (May 19). The Aussie also commented:
"That's a shame!"
It was a reaction to the SunRisers finishing second on the table after beating the Punjab Kings by four wickets earlier in the day.
With SunRisers currently occupying the second spot, the Royals must win to take that position away from the Orange Army. In case the match gets washed out due to rain, the Aussie pacer and co. will hold on to the second spot and face the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first qualifier. The Royals, meanwhile, will have to face the red-hot Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
The SunRisers beat the Punjab Kings convincingly at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Batting first, Punjab made 214 in their stipulated 20 overs, but the home side chased it down with five balls and four wickets to spare.
"Excited for what's ahead" - Pat Cummins
At the post-match presentation, Cummins heaped praise on Abhishek Sharma, given the kind of freedom with which he plays and reckons he will be a nightmare against any bowler. The Aussie bowler also expressed his readiness at whoever they face in the playoffs.
"It's pretty cool, it's awesome. We have won 6 out of 7 here, it has been great and amazing. I didn't know many guys coming into this season, but we have played great cricket and had some fun. Great bunch of guys. He (Abhishek) is amazing. I wouldn't want to bowl to him. It's scary as he plays with freedom, not only against pacers but also against spinners," Cummins said.
"I haven't played in finals before, we'll know in a few hours which game it is. Playing some really good cricket, excited for what's ahead," he added.
The SunRisers' first and only title came in the 2016 edition of the league.
