"The ball has been meeting the middle of his bat"- Harbhajan Singh expects Virat Kohli to get a big score in IND vs AUS T20 World Cup match
Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that since the Men in Blue began the Caribbean leg of their T20 World Cup campaign, Virat Kohli has looked in great touch. Kohli also played a fine cameo of 37 off 28 balls against Bangladesh in his previous game.
While Kohli hasn't got a big score, Harbhajan shed light on the impact of his knocks against Afghanistan and Bangladesh and how crucial it was to not focus on personal milestones. That being said, Harbhajan is hopeful that the big score will come against Australia in St. Lucia on Monday, June 24.
Speaking alongside former cricketer Deep Dasgupta on Star Sports' Game Plan, here's what Harbhajan Singh had to say about Virat Kohli:
"Ever since Virat has come to the Caribbean, the ball has been meeting the middle of his bat. While he hasn't got those big scores, what you should see in T20s is whether the 20s and 30s have made the impact. We know that once he is set, he can score big and hopefully, that will come against Australia."
Harbhajan Singh is also looking forward to batters like Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav facing off against Australia's quality spinner Adam Zampa. He reckons Zampa's spell could be pivotal in determining the result of the game.
Deep Dasgupta on how India can trouble Travis Head
Deep Dasgupta accepted that Travis Head had been troublesome for India on the biggest of stages with his hundreds in the World Test Championship final and the ODI World Cup final. However, he shed light on Head's technique and how the Men in Blue can plan to dismiss him early.
Here's what the former wicketkeeper stated:
"Travis Head has already given India a lot of headaches. Initially he used to play a lot on just the off-side, but of late he has also added shots on the on-side. However, India need to keep it stump-to-stump with him as he doesn't commit too forward. They can try and hit the top of off-stump or middle stump and can afford to bowl fuller, inviting Head to come on the front foot a lot more."
Australia will need to win the game against India to improve their chances of qualifying for the T20 World Cup semifinal. They suffered a defeat in their previous game against Afghanistan by 21 runs.
