"The love we give away is the only love we keep" - Ravichandran Ashwin shares heartfelt video after announcing international retirement
Team India and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin shared a heartfelt video on his social media account hours after announcing his retirement from international cricket today, December 18. Ashwin made the announcement in the post-game press conference held after the third Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Ravichandran Ashwin finishes his illustrious international career with 765 wickets from 287 matches. Known best for his performances with the red ball, Ashwin picked up 537 wickets in 106 Tests with six hundred to go as well. He also holds the unique distinction of being the only player with the most Player of the Series awards in the format (11).
Taking to his official account on X, Ashwin shared a video with a caption that read:

Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement in the post-match press conference after the match between India and Australia at the Gabba was called off as a draw due to incessant showers.
Speaking to the media, the 38-year-old said:
"I will be marking this as my date of playing at this level. Obviously, there are a lot of people to thank, I would be failing in my duties if I didn't thank the BCCI, and fellow teammates, several of them."
Ashwin also named a few of the teammates whom he has played alongside. Thanking them, he said:
"I want to name a few of them, all the coaches who have been a part of this journey, most importantly Rohit, Virat, Ajinkya, Pujara who have taken those splendid catches around the bat to give me the number of wickets I have managed to get over the years."
Ravichandran Ashwin played his last Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval, dismissing Mitchell Marsh for his final international wicket.
