"The strongest side even with injuries throughout the tournament is India" - Eoin Morgan picks 2024 T20 World Cup favorites
Former England skipper Eoin Morgan has picked Team India as his favorite to win the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. The mega event will be played in the West Indies and the USA, starting June 1.
Morgan believes Men in Blue's strength and depth make them the strongest side in the tournament even with injuries. He made those comments during a panel discussion on Sky Sports alongside former cricketer Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton.
"For me, the strongest side even with injuries throughout the tournament is India without a doubt," Morgan said. "The strength and depth is absolutely incredible at the moment. We are talking about the players who missed out in the squad of 15 because of the quality they possess.
"They are favorites for me. The quality that they have on paper if they produce it I think they can beat anybody quite in the tournament."
It is worth noting that India last won the T20 World Cup during the inaugural edition in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The young Indian side beat arch-rivals Pakistan by five runs in Johannesburg to lift the trophy.
Since then, it has been a sorrowful state of affairs for the Men in Blue in the T20 World Cup. They crashed out in the last edition of the tournament in Australia after losing to eventual champions England in the semi-finals by 10 wickets.

India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland in New York on June 5.
