"The video being circulated is outdated" -Vinod Kambli assures of his well-being to friends and MCA officials

The cricketing world was driven into a state of concern after a disturbing video of former Indian batter Vinod Kambli went viral on social media. However, Kambli has confirmed that the footage is outdated, and he is doing fine at the moment.

In the video, Kambli appeared to be in a vulnerable state after seeking support from a motorcycle just to stand upright. Unable to walk, he required assistance from on-lookers as he was ushered inside a building. Kambli has had issues with his health over the years, even suffering a heart attack in 2013 despite undergoing angioplasty the year before to clear two blocked arteries.

The video's circulation naturally led his friends to check up on Kambli. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the former cricketer spent five hours reminiscing the past with his school classmate Ricky and first-class umpire Marcus. He told them to not believe social media and assured them that he was taking care of his health.

“He was in jolly mood when we met him. He is recovering well and is in much better condition. The video being circulated is outdated. He doesn’t have belly fat and eat his food well. The entire family was present and enjoying each other’s company. His son, Cristiano, also a left-hand batter like his father, was taking batting tips from his father,” said Marcus

Kambli also spoke with his former teammate and current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) general manager Abey Kuruvilla, and newly appointed Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Ajinkya Naik.

Vinod Kambli represented India in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs

The former left-handed batter who first came into prominence in his youth career after sharing a record partnership with Sachin Tendulkar, was expected to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. Kambli made a strong start to his career, but he soon fizzled away and his Test career ended at the age of 23.

His last international appearance came in 2000, and he continued to play at the domestic level after that. Kambli announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2011.
