"They have brought themselves into a situation where there is a realistic chance of winning" - Aakash Chopra on India's Day 4 performance in 2nd Test

Aakash Chopra reckons India have given themselves a realistic chance of winning the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. He pointed out that the hosts' attacking approach with both bat and ball made the game move forward very quickly.

Bangladesh ended Day 4 (Monday, September 30) at 26/2 in their second innings, still trailing India by 26 runs. Rohit Sharma and Co. declared their first innings at 285/9 earlier in the day after bowling the visitors out for 233.

While reviewing the day's play on Colors Cineplex, Chopra termed it 'manic' Monday.

"If you see it from Test cricket's point of view, this was manic Monday. If you break all your perceptions one after the other, you realize that the game is moving forward very quickly. They have brought themselves into a situation where there is a realistic chance of winning," he said.

The former India opener noted that the bowlers' performance has made a virtually impossible win possible.

"We were saying it was impossible but possible is hidden in impossible. On bowler-friendly pitches, the game moves fast and something is happening always because the pitch is like that. Nothing was happening here. When you create something from nothing, it leaves you stunned," Chopra elaborated.

India dismissed seven Bangladesh batters for the addition of 126 runs on the fourth morning on a pitch that didn't offer much assistance to either the seamers or the spinners. Ravichandran Ashwin then scalped two wickets in the visitors' second innings to keep the hosts' hopes of a win alive going into the final day.

Aakash Chopra noted that India dished out a 'sensational' performance with the bat on Day 4.

"When some records are broken in T20s, you say it's a 20-year history, things can change there. When you see 150 years of a format, and see someone scoring 50 runs in three overs, then the fastest 100, and then the fastest 200, this was sensational stuff," he said.

The cricketer-turned-commentator added that India's batting was the true definition of attacking cricket.

"When England started hitting, huge posters of Bazball were put from England to Australia to New Zealand. It seemed like they were playing cricket and others were just watching. Cricket is being played here, the way everyone batted, they made our visitors speechless," Chopra stated.

India posted their 285-run total in just 34.4 overs. While Yashasvi Jaiswal (72 off 51) and Rohit Sharma (23 off 11) gave them a blazing start, KL Rahul (68 off 43), Virat Kohli (47 off 35) and Shubman Gill (39 off 36) were the other chief contributors.
