"They are ruining us" - Bhuvneshwar Kumar amazed by SRH batters' fiery form in IPL 2024
Sunrisers Hyderabad new-ball bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar joked that their batters are spoiling them by consistently posting big scores in IPL 2024. The right-arm seamer felt the bowlers will feel the pressure on the occasion when the batters don't click.
The Sunrisers' top-order has been in fiery form and has compiled three 250+ scores this season. The Orange Army broke Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL record total of 263 when they hammered 277 against the Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad.
Speaking to the host broadcaster after their 67-run win over the Delhi Capitals on Saturday, Bhuvneshwar said that their batting unit is doing well for the first time in so many years. As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, he claimed:
"For so many years, this is possibly the first time our batting is clicking so much. As bowlers, we are happy to take the backseat and let the batters do their work and happy do defend so many runs. Honestly, they are ruining us; if one of the games we score 180-200 mentally, it will be tough for us bowlers to defend those. But great to see the way they are batting."
The Sunrisers sent more records tumbling on Saturday during the fixture against the Capitals as openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma plundered the highest T20 powerplay score of 125. They amassed 266/7 in 20 overs and eventually won by 67 runs.
"He is someone who keeps working hard" - Bhuvneshwar Kumar on T Natarajan
Bhuvneshwar also heaped praise on T Natarajan, referring to him as the unsung hero of the side after his spell of 4-1-19-4 against the Capitals. The 34-year-old added:
"We know how good he is when it comes to Yorkers. He is someone who keeps working hard, a silent guy who goes unnoticed most of the times. But he is a star for us for so many years playing for SRH. We know how important he is for us, he is truly a match-winner."
The Sunrisers now have five wins under their belt, thereby moving to the second spot on the points table.
