"This man can bring GOLD to our country if there is a HIDE & SEEK game" - Fans slam Shreyas Iyer for another failure with the bat in IND vs SL 3rd ODI

Team India batter Shreyas Iyer endured another disappointing outing with the bat in the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo on August 7. With India trailing 0-1 in the best-of-three affair, the batters were under pressure to chase 249 and level the series.

Despite another quickfire knock by skipper Rohit Sharma (35 off 20), the Men in Blue slipped to 63/3 in the 10th over. It brought Iyer to the crease with the Lankan spinners in action.

The 29-year-old displayed some promise with two boundaries before misjudging the length of a Dunith Wellalage delivery to be trapped LBW for a seven-ball eight. It ended a dismal ODI series for Iyer, scoring 38 runs at an average of 12.66 in three innings.

Fans on Twitter slammed Shreyas Iyer for another poor outing with the following reactions:

Fans continued slamming Iyer with one saying:

"The "ugly" way Shreyas Iyer gets out even to spinners on turners, seriously dont understand his selection into the setup."
"Why is Shreyas Iyer even in the squad. Can't play pacers ,can't play spin. Can't play bouncer," said a fan.
"Don't u know how shreyas Iyer failed in three matches and also how he failed in final match just playing in road pitches he became good batsmen he can event bat outside of India with pace and swing our next world cup will be south africa shreyas is waste," tweeted a fan.

Team India suffer another horrific collapse to surrender series to Sri Lanka

It was a hattrick of abysmal performances with the bat for Team India as they suffered another shocking collapse in the third ODI against Sri Lanka. After failing to chase 231 and 241 in the first two matches, Rohit Sharma's Men were set an even more daunting 249 to finish with a 1-1 drawn series.

However, the Lankan spinners demolished the vaunted Indian batting lineup by picking up 9 of the 10 wickets to fall. Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage was the wrecker in chief with 5/27 in his 5.1 overs.

He was ably supported by the second ODI hero, Jeffrey Vandersay and Maheesh Theekshana, picking up two wickets each. Sri Lanka completed a crushing win by 110 runs to bag the series by a 2-0 margin.

It was Sri Lanka's first series win in a bilateral event against India in 27 years as they rebounded from a 0-3 hammering in the T20I series.
