Abhimanyu Easwaran starred with the bat for Bengal against Uttar Pradesh on Day 4 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday, October 14. The right-handed batter scored an unbeaten 127 runs off 172 balls, a knock laced with 12 boundaries.

This was his fourth consecutive century in first-class cricket. The 29-year-old recently scored 191 for the Rest of India versus Mumbai in the Irani Cup. He also slammed 116 and 157 not out in the Duleep Trophy.

For the unversed, Easwaran has over 7,500 runs in 99 first-class matches with the help of 27 tons and 29 half-centuries. He was included in the India squad for the 2021 England and South Africa tours but didn’t get a chance to make his Test debut. He will hope to make it to the reserves for the upcoming five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia later this year.

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s century helped Bengal set a 275-run target for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy.

Batting first, Bengal posted 311 in their first innings. Sudip Chatterjee and Sudip Kumar Gharami scored 116 (227) and 90 (161), respectively. Yash Dayal and Vipraj Nigam bagged four-wicket hauls apiece.

In response, UP were bundled out for 292 in their first innings. Aryan Juyal and Siddharth Yadav chipped in with 92 (214) and 73 (127), respectively. Mukesh Kumar and Shahbaz starred with the ball, picking up four wickets apiece.

In the second innings, Bengal declared at 254/3. Apart from Easwaran, Sudip Chatterjee smashed 93 off 151 deliveries. Vipraj Nigam scalped two wickets.
