TNPL 2024: How did the IPL players fare in Salem Spartans vs Chepauk Super Gillies, Match 17? ft. Narayan Jagadeesan & Baba Aparajith

Salem Spartans and Chepauk Super Gillies squared off in the 17th Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 match on Thursday, July 18. Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science Ground hosted the clash.

Chepauk Super Gillies batted first and set a modest target for the Salem Spartans. They lost their openers D Santhosh Kumar (17) and Narayan Jagadeesan (10) inside five overs. However, skipper Baba Aparajith led the batting department with a decent 41-run-a-ball, including two fours backed by Pradosh Ranjan Paul’s 15 off17.

Daryl Ferrario also added 23 runs off 13 balls with four boundaries while Abhishek Tanwar scored a quick-fire eight-ball 24-run knock, featuring four sixes. Gillies eventually set a target of 156 runs, losing seven wickets in the process. Sunny Sandhu and M Poiyamozhi chipped in two wickets for the Spartans while Harish Kumar, N Selva Kumaran, and Aushik Srinivas picked up one wicket each.

In reply, R Kavin of Salem Spartans top scored 15 runs off 22 balls in the top order. However, Robin Bist’s 32-ball 36-run knock brought the team into a commanding position. Muhammed Adnan Khan backed him with a 22-ball 31-run knock, including four boundaries.

As the game progressed, Gillies bowlers took the command and restricted the Spartans to 133/5 despite a 14-ball 33-run unbeaten knock from Harish Kumar. Rahil Shah was the pick of the Gillies bowlers with a three-wicket haul while M Silambarasan and Ganeshan Periyaswamy picked up one wicket each. Silambarasan was the most economical bowler, conceding only 10 runs in four overs.
