TNPL 2024: How did the IPL players fare in Trichy Grand Cholas vs Chepauk Super Gillies, Match 21? ft. Narayan Jagadeesan & Baba Aparajith
On Monday, July 22, Chepauk Super Gillies and Trichy Grand Cholas squared off in the 21st match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli.
Trichy Grand Cholas won the toss and elected to field first against Chepauk Super Gillies. D Santhosh Kumar and Narayan Jagadeesan stitched a 105-run opening partnership. Kumar scored 56 runs off 38 deliveries with seven fours and two sixes while Narayan Jagadeesan added 51 runs off 40 balls with six boundaries.
Gillies captain Baba Aparajith was dismissed for two runs off five balls. Later, Daryl Ferrario scored 30 runs off 15 balls followed by Pradosh Ranjan Paul’s 14-ball 29-run unbeaten knock and Abhishek Tanwar's eight-ball 26-run knock. The team effort helped Chepauk set a 199-run target.
R Rajkumar picked up two wickets while Athisayaraj Davidson and SP Vinod took one wicket apiece for Trichy.
In reply, Waseem Ahmed scored 48 off 38 balls, featuring three fours and two sixes, and gave Trichy Grand Cholas a decent start. However, a 34-ball 52-run unbeaten knock from Jafer Jamal and R Rajkumar’s 39-run knock went in vain as they fell short by 14 runs.
Aswin Crist claimed two wickets while Abhishek Tanwar, M Silambarasan, and Ganeshan Periyaswamy took one wicket each.

Baba Aparajith, who has represented Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, is currently the captain of the Chepauk Super Gillies. However, he had a rough day with the bat, scoring only two runs off five balls.
