TNPL 2024 Points Table: Updated Standings after Nellai Royal Kings vs Trichy Grand Cholas, Match 18

Trichy Grand Cholas moved from fourth to second in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 points table after beating Nellai Royal Kings by four wickets on Saturday, July 20, at the Indian Cement Company Ground, Tirunelveli. They have six points and a net run rate of +0.643 after five matches.

Nellai Royal Kings slipped from third to fourth position on the table after the loss. Lyca Kovai Kings remain at the top of the table with four wins in four matches.

The ongoing tournament has been a nightmare for the Salem Spartans, who are languishing at the bottom of the table with two points and a net run rate of -0.648 thanks to one win in five matches. Siechem Madurai Panthers (sixth) and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans (seventh) have also struggled.


Saravana Kumar stars in victory for Trichy Grand Cholas in TNPL 2024

After opting to field first, the Grand Cholas restricted the Royal Kings to 177/9 in 20 overs. Captain Arun Karthik was the standout batter for the Royal Kings, scoring 84 runs off 51 balls with the help of 10 fours and two sixes. Rithik Easwaran and Sonu Yadav injected momentum into the innings with cameos of 29 and 17, respectively.

Saravana Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for the Grand Cholas after he finished with impressive figures of 4-0-30-4. Kumar accounted for the crucial wickets of Karthik, Ajitesh Guruswamy, NS Harish, and R Silambarasan.

The Grand Cholas chased down the target with three balls to spare. Waseem Ahmed, S Shyam Sundar, and Jafar Jamal made vital contributions of 27, 31 and 39, respectively. But it was R Rajkumar's cameo that took Trichy past the finish line.

Rajkumar hit three fours and as many sixes to stay unbeaten on 31 off 13 balls under pressure. Emmanuel Cherian, S Mohan Prasath, and RS Mokit Hariharan got one scalp apiece for the Royal Kings.
