Rohit Sharma starred with the bat for Mumbai Indians (MI) in their last IPL 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Wankhede Stadium on Friday, May 17. The right-hander scored 68 runs off 38 balls at a strike rate of 178.95, including three sixes and 10 boundaries. With the knock, he also returned to form after a string of low scores as his last six scores were 19, 4, 11, 4, 8, and 6.
Overall, Rohit finished with 417 runs in 14 matches, including a century and fifty, in the IPL 2024 season. The 37-year-old will look to continue the momentum in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. He will lead the Men in Blue in the ICC tournament.
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) were relieved to see Rohit Sharma return to form ahead of the mega event. One user wrote:

LSG set a 215-run target for MI in IPL 2024 clash
Asked to bat first, LSG put up 214/6 against MI in 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran top scored with 75 runs off 29 balls in an innings laced with eight sixes and five boundaries. Captain KL Rahul also hit 55 off 41 deliveries with the help of three sixes and as many fours. Marcus Stoinis and Ayush Badoni contributed 28 (22) and 22* (10), respectively.
Nuwan Thushara and Piyush Chawla were the leading wicket-takers for MI, picking up three wickets each. In response, Mumbai were 135/5 after 16 overs, with Ishan Kishan and Naman Dhir at the crease. The two teams are already eliminated from the playoff race.
