"Treated Jofra Archer like he is some Haris Rauf"- Top 10 funny memes after 1st innings of South Africa vs England 2024 T20 World Cup clash

South Africa managed to score 163/6 in the first innings of the Super 8 match against England in the 2024 T20 World Cup on Friday, June 21. The Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia, is hosting the clash.

England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first in the contest. Quinton de Kock looked in great touch from the outset as he gave a brisk start to South Africa with a blazing 22-ball half-century. He put on an 86-run opening partnership with Reeza Hendricks (19) to set up a good platform for his side.

While De Kock kept smashing the bowlers all around the park, Hendricks struggled for rhythm at the other end. He eventually departed in the 10th over, trying to hit his way out of a rut. It was a timely wicket for England as their bowlers stemmed the flow of runs with a couple of good overs.

Quinton de Kock (65), Heinrich Klaasen (8), and Aiden Markram (1) were sent back to the pavilion during this passage of play. As a result, South Africa were left in a spot of bother at 113/4. David Miller then played an impactful knock of 43 (28) in the company of Tristan Stubbs (12*) to take the African side to a respectable total of 163.

"It's due to the conditions"- David Miller on South Africa slowing down after brisk start in 1st innings of 2024 T20 World Cup match vs England

During the mid-innings break, South Africa middle-order batter David Miller reflected on the action that unfolded in the first innings and his knock, saying:

"It was nice to get some runs at the back end. We started well, went into a wobble in the middle, but it's due to the conditions. 160 is a good score. I hit it well but just a bit too flat."

On the pitch and playing conditions, Miller continued:

" It started well. Looked like it came on nicely. But it got slower and slower. It's not too slow, it's a good wicket."
