Joe Root and Harry Brook resumed the proceedings for the English team on Thursday with an overnight score of 492/3 in response to 556.

The duo continued to pile misery on the Pakistan bowlers with magnificent stroke play on a batting paradise in Multan. After stumps on Day 4, England batter Joe Root reflected on his team's dominating batting performance, saying:

"Great position in the game for us, the way Harry has played, played quickly once he got to his double hundred, incredible. With the heat that is in, we've managed to do well with the ball and the bat. Before you come out here, previous experiences has helped and as a pack we've done well."

He continued:

"Scored at good rate again just like last time we toured here. Still a lot of hard work here, we've got a real opportunity to turn things around tomorrow. Such a brilliant player Brook is, got so many shots in the book and the record here in Pakistan is phenomenal."
