"Very interested in that subject" - Dinesh Karthik on Virat Kohli's fascination with aliens
Dinesh Karthik recently revealed that Team India's ace batter Virat Kohli loves to research aliens. He also mentioned that the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper even showed him some videos related to alien spotting.
During an interaction with Cricbuzz, there was a fan question directed towards Karthik about aliens. The veteran keeper mentioned that while he doesn't believe in aliens, Kohli is interested in that subject.
Karthik said:
"I don't believe in aliens. Actually, I don't have much knowledge in that domain. But I'll tell you who's interested in aliens and who's read up about it, knows a bit about it. You'll be surprised, yes, Virat Kohli.
"I remember him showing me a YouTube video about aliens spotted in America or some place in Nevada. I forgot the name exactly. It's not something that's top of my list in terms of memory, but I know he was very interested in that subject."
Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik share a great bond. Apart from being teammates in the Indian team, the two also shared the dressing room for RCB in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Karthik announced his retirement following IPL 2024. The 39-year-old would still, however, continue being part of the RCB think tank, as the franchise roped him in as their new batting coach and mentor.
"He protects his players" - Dinesh Karthik on Team India new head coach Gautam Gambhir
Much like Virat Kohli, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir also wears his heart on his sleeves and is known very competitive. The two fierce campaigners will now work together for Indian cricket, with Gambhir being appointed as the Men in Blue's new head coach.
About Gambhir's competitive spirit, Karthik said:
"He's a complete player's man. He protects his players, and that's very important in international cricket because, at times, you can feel lonely or deserted in international cricket when performances don't go your way.
"He'll definitely bring a clever tactical angle to this Indian team. Very fierce, intense guy, and I always liked playing with him. He played for the team and did whatever it took to win a game of cricket."
Gambhir's first assignment with the Indian side will be the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, where they will compete in three T20Is and as many ODIs. Kohli will be seen in action during the ODI series, beginning August 2.
